Camp Swan
Camp Swan is a three-day, two-night camp for children ages 7 -12 who have lost a parent, sibling, or other significant person in their life. The camp combines art, music, individual and group therapies so that the needs of each child can be addressed. Through these theraputic experiences the children learn how to have a proper outlet for their feelings of sadness.
We would like to invite all of our past camp swan campers and their families to join us on March 29, 2008 for the return of the city park fishing rodeo. This is a wonderful family outing with lots of fun, games, and fishing. Please contact Sue May at 504-818-2723 x3012, if you would like to attend with your family. (everyone is invited!!!) Campers please where your Camp Swan t-shirts at the event so we can find you in the crowd. If you get in touch with us before the event, we can even pre-register you. If you need a fishing pole, just let me know and we will try to make sure one is available for you to use on the day of the rodeo. This is going to be a GREAT event and we would love to see you there!!!!Camp Swan is a three-day, two-night camp for children ages 7 -12 who have lost a parent, sibling, or other significant person in their life. This year, two camps will take place , the first at Judson Baptist Retreat Center , in St. Francisville, LA, on August 22, 23 and 24th, 2008 and at Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, LA, on November 21, 22 and 23rd , 2008. These are both lovely naturalistic settings with individual quarters for boys and girls who are supervised at all times by a group of trained professionals (Social Workers, Nurses, Chaplains and Physicians) along with trained members of the community. All volunteers receive background checks and attend a training session before attending camp.
